Dances of Diaspora!
We have been invited by the Diverse Artists Network to join other dance groups to perform at two events in May, as part of their Diaspora festival.

  • Bank Holiday Monday, 6th May – College Green.
  • Saturday 11th May – Wye Valley River Fest.

Further information:

Your dance group is invited to be a part of this pilot festival and dance project. The Diaspora event takes place over the bank holiday weekend of 3–6th May 2024 and this dance project is also linked to The Wye Valley River Festival on 11th May.
https://wyevalleyriverfest.com/
The idea is to bring together as many traditional and cultural dance groups from across the world, that are present in Bristol and to have a celebration of these groups as part of the closing ceremony on College Green on May 6th in the afternoon.
Penny Marie Avery is the coordinator of the project and will be communicating with you in more detail if you are interested in finding out more.
The commitment from you and your group to be present on the afternoon of the 6th May and part of the ceremony and if possible to travel on a 53 seater coach (or drive yourselves ) to the Wye Valley on the 11th of May leaving Bristol at 11am and returning by 6pm to participate in a woodland dance event, collaborating with 2 groups from Wales to create a dance celebration.

The exact format of what will happen will become clearer as we progress the project. We will be working with Penny and Cleo Lake as a community choreographer to establish a way for all the dance groups to both perform their own dances and become part of a dance that all groups participate in.
