Dance around the world with Movema and guest artist at our weekly World Fusion classes in Bristol.
World Fusion is a dance class introducing and showcasing diverse, artistic and social dance styles from around the world.
We celebrate diversity and provide an energising experience with an emphasis on dance choreography and sequences.
Level: Mixed dance levels adults (access is via stairs at The Island)
Teachers: Penny from Movema, as well as local and international guests throughout the year!
What you’ll need: Clothes you can comfortably move in, you can choose to dance bare foot, or indoor sports/dance shoes. And please bring a bottle of water.
By attending these classes, there are numerous performances that you can get involved with! Including festivals and community events such as St Paul’s Carnival, Harbour Fest, Black History Month and Lunar New Year
The vibe is very friendly and we always welcome new people 🙂

Divija Melally facilitated 4 Bollywood and Indian dance classes in April, covering three different styles and amazing choreography!
Ayahuasca
Karol from Ayahusca Colombian dance group lead 2 wonderful workshops in March, focusing on techniques dancing with full skirts!
Latin Gems
We started the new year with an exciting series of classes from Petya, Kyra and Merche from the Latin Gems!

Bloco B
Big thanks to Holly and Vero from Bloco B for doing Samba and Afro Brazilian dance with World Fusion in March and April in the lead up to Tambor Bristol’s Samba Festival.
African and Colombian Dance
We were lucky to have Fernanda Varon from Colombia through April, May and beginning of June. As part of the weekly classes Fernanda also choreographed a piece which the group to performed at the Refugee Festival in Page Park on 15th June.
Afro Caribbean Dance
We loved our sessions with Lildonia Lawrence in February and March, and were thrilled to have her back in June & July to do more Afro Caribbean dance styles. And we performed the Carnival & Dancehall choreo at the Bristol Harbour Fest! In the Queens Square Dance Tent.
Candela Y Tambo
We were so lucky to catch Danilua and troupe from Colombia for a special workshops exploring African and Colombian dance and rhythms.
AfroFusion
From 1st October to 12th November we have the wonderful Kenzi Ireland delivering AfroFusion an exciting creative and empowering dance class!
Persian Dance
On 19th November we will delve into the world of Persian theatrical dance with Medea Mahdavi.
SWANA Dance
From 26th November to 10th December we have the incredible Anna Kemper from Small World Belly dance.
