Who is this project for?

This project is for women, especially to improve the health & wellbeing and reduce isolation of women seeking asylum and refugees, women with mental health illness, low-income/ single-parent/ carer families.

*Trans women are and will always be welcome in these sessions. The same goes for non-binary, gender-fluid, and gender-queer people who feel included by the term women.

What’s involved?

The sessions focus on joyful dance styles from around the world, from Bollywood to Afrobeats, traditional to modern folk dance, with plenty of room for you to explore your own style and creativity too. There’s no “getting it right,” just moving in whatever way feels good for you.

We want coming along to be as easy and stress-free as possible, so:

We support participants with travel expenses and provide healthy refreshments in a warm safe environment. Socialising time has been built in to give the women who attend time to build new connections and make new friendships. Women are able to bring their children during school holidays when they do not have access to childcare.

I’m not good at sports but I really liked the dancing! The atmosphere in the room is really special… it’s really important work for women in the city

  • 100% participants improved their mental health
