About the session:

Facilitated by experienced dance artists, and co-produced by the community, Movema’s Stronger Together project is a warm, safe and creative space for women of different backgrounds to express themselves, improve their health and develop their skills.

This session is a chance to:

  • Reconnect with others
  • Get active and feel good
  • Share in world dance and music
  • Opportunities to perform

✨ No dance experience necessary — everyone is welcome.

Who is this session for?

This project is for women, especially to improve the health & wellbeing and reduce isolation of women seeking asylum and refugees, women with mental health illness, low-income/ single-parent/ carer families.

*Trans women are and will always be welcome in these sessions. The same goes for non-binary, gender-fluid, and gender-queer people who feel included by the term women.

What is involved?

The sessions focus on dance styles from around the world, with opportunities for the participants to create their own movement.

We support participants with travel expenses and also provide refreshments and socialising time built in. Women are able to bring their children during holidays when they do not have access to childcare.

I’m not good at sports but I really liked the dancing! The atmosphere in the room is really special… it’s really important work for women in the city

  • 100% participants improved their mental health
  • 100% participants improved their physical health
  • 100% participants improved their confidence
  • 100% participants improved their sense of belonging within the group.
