Liverpool’s annual Africa Oyé music festival took place on the 22nd and 23rd June with a very colourful, fun and lively Oyé Active Zone!
A free, fun and vibrant celebration of arts and culture, Africa Oyé is a festival that takes place every year in Sefton Park, Liverpool and attracts thousands of people from all over the city and beyond for a weekend of music and dancing! The festival celebrates the rich culture rooted in the African culture and features musical talents from the African Diaspora.
Each year Movema programme the Oyé Active Zone creating an exciting timetable of dance workshops, drumming workshops and demos, artistic performances and lots more! Catering for grown ups and children the programme will have something for everyone to get involved and learn something new!
This year Movema invited existing and new artists and organisations to share their expertise and get participants involved in a rich, fun, diverse and accessible artistic programme as part of the Oyé Active Zone at Africa Oyé 2024!
Some of the fabulous artists and organisations included Yoga with Ray, Capoeira for All, Sim & Tim drumming, Sole Rebel, Beatlife, Nyaya, IRIE! Dance Theatre, Melt Dance and a very special workshop with a Vox Sambou’s very own dance choreographer, Warda Bredy sharing traditional Haitian dance!
