We’re all about celebrating East & South East Asian heritage in accessible and creative ways! Movema’s goal is to bring public spaces and events to life with exciting performances while making sure dancers, especially those from ESEA backgrounds, are represented & visible. We also want to create meaningful experiences for our communities, building connections through long-term projects and plenty of chances to take the stage!
During Lunar New Year period in January and February, we were part of 16 performances and 20 workshops in North West region including Liverpool & Warrington.
In Bristol, our family dance group from Knowle West were able to perform at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery with local East Asian musician KALA CHNG, and be part of her new music video!
During this time, Movema employed opportunities for 7 ESEA dance practitioners. Rachel Li said ‘’It was such an amazing and joyous day celebrating LNY as a phoenix, thank you for having me.’’
