Chance To Dance Reflection

Chance To Dance is an annual programme, recently running from June 2021 to June 2022, supported by Our Liverpool.

The objective was to engage 4 people who have refugee status or are seeking asylum, in oder to help them develop professional skills and become Dance Leaders and ambassadors in their community.

What We Achieved

Since Chance To Dance

  • One participant has since engaged in volunteering in ‘Squash’ and the Community gardens
  • Three participants volunteered at Movema events and enjoyed learning different skills including evaluation by engaging & chatting with audience members, and providing flyers and information.
  • All participants visited the Unity Theatre, somewhere they had never been before. They also appreciated joining a walking tour providing historical information about Liverpool’s Chinatown.
  • Participants joined Movema Co-creation project and performed as part of Chinese New Year and Big Union Jubilee celebration to an audience of more than 300 people.
  • Participants joined African, Indian and Chinese dance masterclasses and also shared their cultural dance forms with others in the classes.
