Chance To Dance is an annual programme, recently running from June 2021 to June 2022, supported by Our Liverpool.
The objective was to engage 4 people who have refugee status or are seeking asylum, in oder to help them develop professional skills and become Dance Leaders and ambassadors in their community.

Since Chance To Dance
- One participant has since engaged in volunteering in ‘Squash’ and the Community gardens
- Three participants volunteered at Movema events and enjoyed learning different skills including evaluation by engaging & chatting with audience members, and providing flyers and information.
- All participants visited the Unity Theatre, somewhere they had never been before. They also appreciated joining a walking tour providing historical information about Liverpool’s Chinatown.
- Participants joined Movema Co-creation project and performed as part of Chinese New Year and Big Union Jubilee celebration to an audience of more than 300 people.
- Participants joined African, Indian and Chinese dance masterclasses and also shared their cultural dance forms with others in the classes.
