Between March and May 2022, Movema delivered an Artist Development programme engaging with members of the local community to up-skill as community dance artists. Supported by LCVS.
The programme specifically targeted: unemployed persons, single-parent families, persons from the global majority, people with disabilities &/or mental health difficulties, and women.
The project delivered a structured programme of learning, consisting of: on-the-job training, shadowing professional artists at existing Movema classes / performances / projects; guided learning modules in group training sessions; group catch up sessions to monitor development; 1-2-1 mentoring with a director of Movema; and participation in a community celebration event, delivering segments of dance to the local community.
