Unlock the Box is Movema’s six year project reaching out to disadvantaged children and young people from different parts of Liverpool and Knowsley. Participants have experienced situations of deprivation, living in poverty, obesity and ill health due to inactivity and non engagement.
The programme has provided a range of dance activities including; dance workshops, holiday clubs, coming together days, performances, leadership opportunities, online and video projects. Contributing to improve physical activity, provide non-formal learning, increase confidence and develop a positive view of themselves and their communities.
I’m delighted as a single working parent that I found access to this over the summer holidays
Unlock The Box
My two sons very much enjoyed taking part in these sessions. They loved learning the dances and also the history and language associated with the dances. They now want to continue dancing
