Wildfire Rising
recent highlights
Wildfire Rising
We are celebrating the end of the second year of Wildfire Rising in North West. The development programme removes barriers of inequality by investing in and supporting Global Majority dance artists. Led in collaboration with Cheshire Dance & funded by Arts Council England.
Happy Diwali
Dancers from our weekly World Fusion, Bristol group performed at the Happy Diwali event run by AICA Avon Indian Community Association, Southern Brooks and South Gloucestershire Race Equality Network, in Thornbury in November.
Lunar New Year
We’re proud to have delivered a full programme of Lunar New Year events across Liverpool and Bristol region this January and February. Activities included dance, martial arts, storytelling, calligraphy and tea ceremonies!
All Things Dance Bristol
Partnering with Diverse Artists Network for the third year. Movema programmed All Things Dance an event that provides networking and showcasing opportunities for professional dancers and dance enthusiasts in the South West.

Dance Artist Survey
We are running a short survey to see what training needs artists have. Looking at management skills, facilitation skills, art form development and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion.

Bristol & South Gloucestershire Refugee Festival
On 15th June we are hosting Celebrate With Me for the third year in Page Park. This free event promises to provide an uplifting programme of dance and music from around the world including people with lived experience from refugee communities.
LEAP Festival
We will be taking part in the wonderful LEAP dance festival 26 April – 10 May 2024 happening across Liverpool in theatres and public spaces. Catch Movema dances as part of the ‘Dancing In The Streets’ activities on 6th May City Centre.
Africa Oyé
For the 15th year, Movema will be running the Oyé Active Zone as part of the amazing free festival weekend in Liverpool! We expect hundreds of people to join us to dance, drum and take part in wellbeing activities 22-23 June 2024.
EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS
The pupils who took part in the performance have all had such a fantastic experience and the whole school was delighted to enjoy the presentation of the rehearsals and performance. Inspirational!
