What an amazing day of music, dancing and cultural exchange!
Penny (Movema) joined Adam and Kate (Chango Music) to teach a day of Samba dance and drumming at Harrow House International College, Swanage at the end of January.
It was a day jam packed full of action, with participants from Chile, Peru, Brazil and across South America, who are visiting the UK to improve their English language skills and undertake other British studies.
As well as leading separate sessions, the dance and drumming groups came together to create an explosion of movement and sound!
It was inspiring for me to have conversations with young Brazilian people about samba and carnival to see what it means to them as ‘non-dancers’. And some of them were surprised that people from the UK knew so much about Brazilian music and arts! (Penny)
