Penny Caffrey Co-Director

Penny Caffrey Co-Director (Bristol Branch)

Penny, originally from Lincolnshire, studied Dance, Performing Arts & Musical Theatre at LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) and the Arts Educational School, Tring Park.  


Penny has performed with a number of companies in UK and abroad including; Movema, X-TENSION, Deva Flamenco, JAK-I, House of Suarez and Mundi Dance.  She has toured the UK with ‘Bollywood Steps’ produced by Nutkhut, and performed at the Attakalari Biennial Contemporary Dance Festival in Bangalore, India.


Penny has choreographed a number of pieces incorporating movement styles from around the world including; Point of Synthesis (contemporary trio featuring martial arts forms), United Rhythms (performed at Black Achievers Awards), Afro Vibes (Orixa influenced piece performed with Sibikwa Orchestra), Translations (Contemporary Flamenco solo) and San Jiao (Contemporary trio with Chinese fans).

Dance and Education

From 2001-2012 Penny was employed as a lecturer in dance at LIPA, and since 2014 she has delivered on the HE Musical Theatre course at SGS College (Bristol).
She regularly works in schools, colleges and universities.


Penny is also an active freelance dance artist and arts manager.  Since relocating to Bristol has worked with organisations & initiatives including; Mean Feet, Chango Music, Dance Voice, Action Track, University of Bristol, Mundi Dance, DanceHub, Rise Youth Dance and Activate Dance.

Dance styles include;

Flamenco, Bollywood, Brazilian, African, Latin, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Jazz and Yoga.

Working alongside Mersey Care and LIPA, Penny has been a project manager and deliverer of Movema’s Moving Minds, a programme providing dance and movement activities for people affected by mental health concerns.
