Maria grew up in Birmingham, with a keen interest in the dance and music of her Irish heritage and of the many other cultures in the city.
She studied Performing Arts and Arts Management at DeMontfort University and went on to work with a range of different festivals and arts organisations as well as creating and performing her own work, winning commissions from BBC Leicester, Derby Dance and Merseyside Dance Initiative.
She has spent 9 months in Brazil continuing her training in Brazilian Dance and Martial Art Capoeira (started in 2001) and learning Brazilian Portuguese.
From 2006-2010 she toured with Nutkhut Productions performing in Bollywood dance show, ‘Bollywood Steps’. In 2010 she was Support Artist to Company Chameleon for the Stride2 project working with a group of young men choreographing and training them for a performance in Urban Moves International.
Maria has just returned from a commercial dance contract in India.
